Watchdog might probe Information Corp’s Betr after Melbourne Cup promotion

New wagering group Betr often is the topic of an investigation by NSW’s gaming watchdog two days into operations after promoting 100-1 odds for the Melbourne Cup on November 1.

The commercials have been revealed in Information Corp tabloids on Thursday and Friday, pledging to supply the engaging odds for each Melbourne Cup runner with a most wager of $10.

In an announcement first reported in The Australian Monetary Assessment, Liquor and Gaming NSW mentioned it had “critical considerations” the promoting breached NSW playing legal guidelines and will represent prohibited inducement.

The authority confirmed it could examine the difficulty and reply to the alleged breach with the “full pressure” of the regulation. Betr declined to remark.
