WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. navy carried out an operation that killed a senior Islamic State chief in northern Somalia, U.S. officers mentioned on Thursday.
The officers, talking on the situation of anonymity, advised reporters that Bilal al-Sudani, a U.S.-designated ISIS chief in Somalia, was killed within the operation together with about 10 of his associates.
They added that the operation was authorized by President Joe Biden earlier this week and carried out inside the previous 24 hours. .
