KYIV (Reuters) -A Russian patrol has detained the director basic of Ukraine’s Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia nuclear energy plant, the state-owned firm accountable for the plant mentioned on Saturday, and the U.N. nuclear watchdog mentioned it was searching for “clarifications”.

Ihor Murashov was detained on his approach from the Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant, Europe’s largest, to the city of Enerhodar at round 4 p.m. (1300 GMT) on Friday, the pinnacle of state-owned Energoatom, Petro Kotin, mentioned in a press release.

Murashov “bears essential and unique duty for the nuclear and radiation security” of the plant and his detention “jeopardizes the protection of operation of Ukraine and Europe’s largest nuclear energy plant”, Kotin mentioned in his Telegram assertion.

Kotin referred to as on Russian forces to “cease instantly the acts of nuclear terrorism in the direction of the administration and personnel” of the plant and launch Murashov.
