KYIV (Reuters) – Russia has been concentrating on Ukraine’s important infrastructure in a collection of drone assaults early on Monday on Kyiv and the area surrounding it, officers stated.
Russia saved pounding Kyiv for the second evening in a row, after firing a barrage of missiles over the capital on New Yr’s Eve evening and earlier within the day.
“It’s loud within the area and within the capital: evening drone assaults,” Kyiv Governor Oleksiy Kuleba stated on the Telegram messaging app.
“Russians launched a number of waves of (Iranian-made) Shahed drones. Concentrating on important infrastructure services. Air defence is at work.”
By 3 a.m. native time (0100 GMT), Ukraine’s air defence programs destroyed 16 air objects above Kyiv, the town’s navy administration stated. Air raid sirens had been wailing by that point for greater than three hours.
Earlier within the evening, particles from a destroyed drone over Kyiv hit the capital’s northeastern district, wounding one, the town’s Mayor Vitali Klitschko stated.
A 19-year-old man was taken to a hospital in Kyiv’s Desnianskiy district, Klitschko stated on the Telegram messaging app, after drone particles hit a street there and broken a constructing.
Reuters was not in a position to independently confirm the knowledge.
Kyrylo Tymoshenko, Ukrainian presidential aide, stated drone particles hit a street within the Desnianskiy district, in Kyiv’s northeast, damaging a constructing subsequent to it.
The district, positioned on the left financial institution of the Dnipro River, is mainly a residential space and the capital’s most populous district.
Ukraine’s regional navy command within the nation’s east stated air defence programs destroyed 9 Iranian-made Shahed drones over the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia areas by early hours of Monday.
