(Reuters) – The European Union strongly condemns Russia’s plans to carry referenda in elements of Ukraine and won’t recognise the outcomes of the votes, EU overseas coverage chief Josep Borrell mentioned in a press release on Tuesday.

“Russia, its political management, and all these concerned in these ‘referenda’ and different violations of worldwide regulation in Ukraine might be held accountable, and extra restrictive measures in opposition to Russia can be thought of,” Borrell mentioned.

Borrell mentioned the referenda votes can’t be thought of “because the free expression of the need of the individuals” in these areas.
