WELLINGTON (Reuters) – Chris Hipkins is about to switch Jacinda Ardern as chief of the Labour celebration and New Zealand’s prime minister after being the one candidate to be nominated for the function, the Labour Celebration stated in a press release on Saturday.

Hipkins is anticipated to be confirmed as the brand new chief by a gathering of Labour’s 64 lawmakers, or Caucus, on Sunday.

First elected to parliament for the Labour Celebration in 2008, the 44-year-old Hipkins turned a family identify fronting the federal government’s response to the pandemic after being appointed minister for COVID-19 in November 2020.
