(Reuters) – U.S. basketball star Brittney Griner has been taken to a penal colony within the Russian area of Mordovia, her legal professionals stated in an announcement on Thursday.

Reuters had earlier reported the switch, citing a supply conversant in the case. In August, Griner was sentenced to 9 years on medication prices following her arrest at a Moscow airport with vape cartridges containing hashish oil.
