WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met Yemeni Chairman of the Presidential Management Council Rashad Al-Alimi on Monday and affirmed U.S. help for the council whereas discussing the necessity to prolong a U.N.-mediated truce by Oct. 2, the State Division mentioned.

Yemen has been break up by a seven-year-old conflict pitting a fractious coalition led by Saudi Arabia in opposition to the Iran-aligned Houthi group. The Houthis largely maintain the north and the internationally acknowledged authorities is predicated within the south.
