MEXICO CITY (Reuters) – Mexican authorities mentioned on Sunday no less than 14 individuals died in an armed assault at a jail within the northern border metropolis Juarez and two extra died throughout a later armed aggression elsewhere within the metropolis.
The Chihuahua state prosecutor mentioned in a press release that amongst those that died within the jail assault had been 10 safety personnel and 4 inmates, whereas one other 13 had been damage and no less than 24 escaped.
It was not instantly clear who carried out the assault.
The prosecutor mentioned preliminary investigations discovered the attackers arrived at round 7 a.m. native time on the jail in armored automobiles and opened hearth.
Minutes earlier, authorities had reported a close-by assault towards municipal police. After a chase, 4 males had been captured and a truck seized.
In a distinct a part of town, two extra drivers died later within the day following what authorities known as an armed aggression.
The state prosecutor didn’t specify whether or not the three incidents had been associated.
In August, tons of of Mexican troopers had been despatched to Juarez after a jail face-off between members of two rival cartels induced a riot and shootouts that killed 11 individuals, most of them civilians.
